My name is Elizabeth Cook. I am a second year teacher at Mary Ford Elementary in North Charleston. I am currently teaching third grade and last year I taught fifth grade. I went to Carson-Newman College where I received my bachelors in elementary education. Afterwards, I went on to the University of Knoxville to receive my masters in reading education. Classroom Reflection
The digital story telling class has taught me step-by-step on how to make a story board with moviemaker. I was unaware on how to download movies or use multimedia to make a movie. At the beginning of the year, I can introduce myself to my students by providing a moviemaker titled “All about Me.” The students can introduce themselves to the class by creating their own moviemaker. I will be able to implement moviemaker in my third grade classroom daily. I can introduce units or provide a review with moviemaker. During some units I can allow students to take charge of their own learning by creating a storyboard on a certain topic; for example, the states of matter. The students will be able to research pictures, music and movies for a topic; such as a certain time period in history (example: the Civil War).
I believe this is a great way to incorporate technology in the classroom. Each moviemaker can consist of pictures, music, videos, instruction and voice. Also, this would be a great activity for a teacher who may be sick and/or cannot be at school. The teacher could use this tool to teach instruction even while they are absent. I really like that students can create their own moviemaker; as a result, they can take charge of their own learning. Moviemaker is a great tool to incorporate in every classroom!
